Stallone fan I am, but I was wondering if the new Rambo movie was worth my time and money? I just want to hear from you if you saw the new movie and I need an opinion. I don't care to hear if you think all the rambo movies are dumb or not, just THIS MOVIE if you seen it. THANKS!
Is the new Rambo movie worth the trip to the theatre?concerts Rambo was just such an enjoyable guilty pleasure. I plan to see it one more time before it leaves the big screen. It is far more violent than any of the previous Rambo films. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that this latest installment of Rambo is so bloody that it makes Rambo I, II, and III look like PG rated movies.
The movie simply takes belligerence to a whole new level, almost to a pornographic excess, which in my mind is a good thing. Utilizing big weaponry - from Rambo wielding a wicked homemade machete, to Rambo using a mounted .50 cal machine gun, to Rambo’s mercenary associate using the Barrett M109 .50 cal sniper rifle - you see heads explode, arms sliced clean as bread, torsos cleaved in half, entrails spilling from an adversary’s abdomen, and blood spattered everywhere.
The movie’s plot is fairly simplistic, and the dramatic development is almost nonexistent compared to “First Blood”, but you go to a Rambo film not with the intention of seeing a first rate Oscar worthy drama, but instead you go into such a film to see well choreographed shootouts, and in this sense, the latest Rambo delivers in spades. It is simply one of the best action films of the past two years. I rarely find action films moving anymore, but Stallone’ latest foray as the long haired disgruntled Vietnam vet, made me hate the antagonists of the film so much, that I had to stop myself from jumping out of my seat every time Rambo or his sniper wielding friend tore a man’s body to pieces. This fourth Rambo is pure catharsis, plain and simple.
My only complaint with the film is that I believe for political correctness, they did not set the film in a Middle Eastern context, which in my mind would be more relevant to our times. According to Stallone, from interviews I have heard, he placed it in Burma to bring awareness to a bloody civil war in that country that the West has ignored for the past 60 years. Though I grant that this is possibly the reason why it is not shot in a post 9/11 context, with Islamic terrorists being the bad guys, I have an inkling that protecting people’s religious “sensitivities” has something to do with it.
Outside of that minor problem, the movie is superb. Rambo IV is a film for anyone who loves action.

I definately recommend going to watch Rambo. Look, you get EXACTLY what you pay for. Honestly, what do you expect when going to see a movie like this?
Guns ablazing... Lots of blood... More guns... More blood...
Simply put, Rambo is what it is. A pure action flick. Don't go if you care about plot because there really isn't one unless you count damsel in distress as one. Seriously though, if you like movies with action and nothing else, go check this out.
Rambo was great it was one of the great action films of the 80's but they have gotten worse sense 2 3 stunk and the latest one is just a turd....flat out a waste of time
YES YES YES on all accounts buddy. This movie is a must see I have gone twice so far. And im going again. The crowds roared cheered and even clapped at the end of this film.
This Rambo has alot more graphics guts and blood as others have said. And its the way its shot. No other action film to date comes close.
Stallone has raised the bar on future action films due to this Rambo film now.
Also it isn't just mindless talk. Its based on whats really happening over there in burma and how the poor villagers are being treated over the last 60 years.
I would definatly go buy a ticket and bring some friends. You won't be dissapointed.
RAMBO ROCKS... HAIL RAMBO!!!
if somebody pays the ticket for you....waste of time.....Rambo 1 remains the best
If you like extreme violence, gun blazing and body mutilation in movies
and I do..
then go watch it. I loved the movie
Yeah its worth watching if you like to look at at old man trying to milk every cent out of his career, or if watching an old man all hopped up on roids is your thing
Well, if you watched the first three... it certainly wouldn't hurt to view the last one. It would be worth watching...considering its the last one.
Personally, I will. More than just watching it, am also interested how the series/story would finally end.
Edit: Just came from the theater. Indeed, it was pure action....explosions, blood, guts, gore..... unmitigated by any melodramatics. If you like action blood-and-guts type, this would seem like a wetdream. The whole Rambo story came to a close....and it could not get any better ending.
Watch any movie starring Lee Marvin, and you won't have to ask a question like this.
