How to dress for a show at the Sacramento Community Theatre?

Is your typical "little black dress" with heels ok, or should i just go with nice black pants and a nice blouse?

I went to Modesto's Gallo Center in a dress shirt (no tie), sweater and slacks and was just about in the middle of the crowd, sartorially speaking. (Maybe half a point below the average because the slacks were corduroy.) If that translates easily into feminine wardrobe, go for it.

Ask your date, too. If he is going to wear a suit and tie, dress up to match. If not, dress down to match.

For the theatre I'd wear a conservative (knee length or longer) dress or skirt and top/blouse; stockings and heels. Perhaps if I was going for a certain "look" I may also wear elbow or shoulder length gloves.

Whats the best way to get into auditioning for musical theatre?

Each major city has a theater alliance group, such as the Philadelphia theater alliance. Go on the website and search under auditions. Also, most local theaters have a website that posts auditions. Go for it!

Actually go to an audition.

Look up websites of local theatres and look up audition times. also, if you're serious about it, get into a talent agency and they tell you about auditions and judges look for people there. good luck!
Just do it! Go to a local community theater and audition. The more you do it, the better you get at it, and the more opportunities you will discover.

Be sure you choose a song that is appropriate for your voice and shows off the best qualities. Usually the theater will have a pianist so all you have to do is take sheet music for them. If you don't have it, pick a good a cappella song.
First, get into Drama group. Then local Theatre. The best way to even get concidered to go to a call back is having experience! Good luck!!

Do you think that the different audiences that view dance 鈥搕heatre have an impact on how it is perfo

for example,do you think that there is a difference between an American audience and a European audience and how they perceive and receive dance ?

I do think there is a difference in how dance is viewed. I think there are different levels of sophistication as well.

Most American audiences don't go enough to understand what is being presented, yet they sit there as if they were in church.

Some theaters in Europe have guys who go up and down the aisles selling refreshments during the shows. That should illustrate at least one difference!

I need to find a motel near the Briar Street Theatre in Chicago. The Blueman group plays there. Than

The closest hotels to the theater are The WIllows on Surf St., The Days Inn Lincoln Park on Diversey, and the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace on Broadway. All are walking distance to the theater and are neighborhood-y hotels. The rooms in all of them are small but when you are in the Lakeview neighborhood you won't want to spend too much time in them anyway.

Is the new Rambo movie worth the trip to the theatre?

Stallone fan I am, but I was wondering if the new Rambo movie was worth my time and money? I just want to hear from you if you saw the new movie and I need an opinion. I don't care to hear if you think all the rambo movies are dumb or not, just THIS MOVIE if you seen it. THANKS!

Rambo was just such an enjoyable guilty pleasure. I plan to see it one more time before it leaves the big screen. It is far more violent than any of the previous Rambo films. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that this latest installment of Rambo is so bloody that it makes Rambo I, II, and III look like PG rated movies.

The movie simply takes belligerence to a whole new level, almost to a pornographic excess, which in my mind is a good thing. Utilizing big weaponry - from Rambo wielding a wicked homemade machete, to Rambo using a mounted .50 cal machine gun, to Rambo’s mercenary associate using the Barrett M109 .50 cal sniper rifle - you see heads explode, arms sliced clean as bread, torsos cleaved in half, entrails spilling from an adversary’s abdomen, and blood spattered everywhere.

The movie’s plot is fairly simplistic, and the dramatic development is almost nonexistent compared to “First Blood”, but you go to a Rambo film not with the intention of seeing a first rate Oscar worthy drama, but instead you go into such a film to see well choreographed shootouts, and in this sense, the latest Rambo delivers in spades. It is simply one of the best action films of the past two years. I rarely find action films moving anymore, but Stallone’ latest foray as the long haired disgruntled Vietnam vet, made me hate the antagonists of the film so much, that I had to stop myself from jumping out of my seat every time Rambo or his sniper wielding friend tore a man’s body to pieces. This fourth Rambo is pure catharsis, plain and simple.

My only complaint with the film is that I believe for political correctness, they did not set the film in a Middle Eastern context, which in my mind would be more relevant to our times. According to Stallone, from interviews I have heard, he placed it in Burma to bring awareness to a bloody civil war in that country that the West has ignored for the past 60 years. Though I grant that this is possibly the reason why it is not shot in a post 9/11 context, with Islamic terrorists being the bad guys, I have an inkling that protecting people’s religious “sensitivities” has something to do with it.

Outside of that minor problem, the movie is superb. Rambo IV is a film for anyone who loves action.

I definately recommend going to watch Rambo. Look, you get EXACTLY what you pay for. Honestly, what do you expect when going to see a movie like this?

Guns ablazing... Lots of blood... More guns... More blood...

Simply put, Rambo is what it is. A pure action flick. Don't go if you care about plot because there really isn't one unless you count damsel in distress as one. Seriously though, if you like movies with action and nothing else, go check this out.
Rambo was great it was one of the great action films of the 80's but they have gotten worse sense 2 3 stunk and the latest one is just a turd....flat out a waste of time
YES YES YES on all accounts buddy. This movie is a must see I have gone twice so far. And im going again. The crowds roared cheered and even clapped at the end of this film.

This Rambo has alot more graphics guts and blood as others have said. And its the way its shot. No other action film to date comes close.

Stallone has raised the bar on future action films due to this Rambo film now.

Also it isn't just mindless talk. Its based on whats really happening over there in burma and how the poor villagers are being treated over the last 60 years.

I would definatly go buy a ticket and bring some friends. You won't be dissapointed.

RAMBO ROCKS... HAIL RAMBO!!!
if somebody pays the ticket for you....waste of time.....Rambo 1 remains the best
If you like extreme violence, gun blazing and body mutilation in movies

and I do..

then go watch it. I loved the movie
Yeah its worth watching if you like to look at at old man trying to milk every cent out of his career, or if watching an old man all hopped up on roids is your thing
Well, if you watched the first three... it certainly wouldn't hurt to view the last one. It would be worth watching...considering its the last one.

Personally, I will. More than just watching it, am also interested how the series/story would finally end.

Edit: Just came from the theater. Indeed, it was pure action....explosions, blood, guts, gore..... unmitigated by any melodramatics. If you like action blood-and-guts type, this would seem like a wetdream. The whole Rambo story came to a close....and it could not get any better ending.
Watch any movie starring Lee Marvin, and you won't have to ask a question like this.

Have you ever gone to see a movie at the theatre BY YOURSELF?

Did you like it???

Yes, I was supposed to go with a friend but he backed out at the last minute. I went anyways, and it was still good ^_^

I could never do that. I have to have a man sitting next to me so that I can lay my head on his shoulder.
Never, but I really should try it...then again I'd probably end up falling asleep w/out someone there to pinch me.
yup
many, many times... my parents owned it..;)
yeah, i always do that.

whenever i go to watch a movie i really like, i'd prefer to go by myself...

no disturbance!
Yes, and it was awesome. It was the middle of the day so I had my choice of seating and I didn't have to wait in line at the concession stand. I also didn't have to worry about what kind of movie anyone else was in the mood to watch. =)
I will do almost anything by myself with no problem. I just can't seem to do the movie theater thing though.
Nope
Yes, all of the time. It can be a nice break.
Yes I did and I liked it too. It was a while back and I saw Murder by Numbers.
Yes....I did like it. I had the entire tub of popcorn to myself!

Does anyone know a good website where I can find theatre games?

I need a game for my women's acting ensemble class. Anyone know where I can find one?

Does anyone know a good website where I can find theatre games?classical music

I'm a big fan of using improvisational games to help teach theatre. Improv is a very integral part of theatre and is extremely useful for any working actor.

At "www.fuzzyco.com/improv/games.html", they have a database of improv game websites. I believe there are 11 websites listed there along with how many games each website has, how extensive the game descriptions are, etc. GREAT RESOURCE! (P.S.- If the screen won't let you see the whole website address, just hold the cursor over it, and a yellow box should appear with the full address.)

BEST WISHES!!!
