Jeez Shelfy is one girl with issues!!!

I think a part is what you make it, the writer has met the actor about thre quarters of the way, but you need to bring the essence to her.

When you say contemporary do you mean post 1900?

if so then there are loads

Elisabeth proctor The Crucible Miller

Beatrice A view from the bridge Miller

Yerma Yerma Lorca

amanda The glass Menagarie Williams

Blanche A streetcar named desire Williams

Or in the last ten years there are some characters such as

gwenny House of america Ed Thomas

Cecilia The Ark Helen Griffin

Girl characters are hard to come by, but when they occur they are usually very very strong indeed.

There is no best part to play. Acting is an ignoble profession patronised by people who can't get proper jobs and have psychological inadequacies, they crave to be the fairy on the christmas tree, LOOK AT ME LooK at me. they should deal with it and move on. Organisationally, its a big gay cartel and artistically, the theatre, TV and cinema are worthless media.
Theatrical acting is a talent and like, an art, Crispy. They entertain to, like have people enjoy a story. Any job, when it,like, comes down to it, is about "Hey, look what I can do/did!"

I love the role of Tracy in Hairspray: The Musical. But how do you, like choose to say who's the best??
Are you Maureen Lipman?
