How to dress for a show at the Sacramento Community Theatre?

Is your typical "little black dress" with heels ok, or should i just go with nice black pants and a nice blouse?

How to dress for a show at the Sacramento Community Theatre?performing shows

I went to Modesto's Gallo Center in a dress shirt (no tie), sweater and slacks and was just about in the middle of the crowd, sartorially speaking. (Maybe half a point below the average because the slacks were corduroy.) If that translates easily into feminine wardrobe, go for it.

Ask your date, too. If he is going to wear a suit and tie, dress up to match. If not, dress down to match.

How to dress for a show at the Sacramento Community Theatre?say yes opera theater

For the theatre I'd wear a conservative (knee length or longer) dress or skirt and top/blouse; stockings and heels. Perhaps if I was going for a certain "look" I may also wear elbow or shoulder length gloves.

Whats the best way to get into auditioning for musical theatre?

Each major city has a theater alliance group, such as the Philadelphia theater alliance. Go on the website and search under auditions. Also, most local theaters have a website that posts auditions. Go for it!

Whats the best way to get into auditioning for musical theatre?mr messed up

Actually go to an audition.

Whats the best way to get into auditioning for musical theatre?getting late opera theater

Look up websites of local theatres and look up audition times. also, if you're serious about it, get into a talent agency and they tell you about auditions and judges look for people there. good luck!
Just do it! Go to a local community theater and audition. The more you do it, the better you get at it, and the more opportunities you will discover.

Be sure you choose a song that is appropriate for your voice and shows off the best qualities. Usually the theater will have a pianist so all you have to do is take sheet music for them. If you don't have it, pick a good a cappella song.
First, get into Drama group. Then local Theatre. The best way to even get concidered to go to a call back is having experience! Good luck!!

Do you think that the different audiences that view dance 鈥搕heatre have an impact on how it is performed ?tickets

I do think there is a difference in how dance is viewed. I think there are different levels of sophistication as well.

Most American audiences don't go enough to understand what is being presented, yet they sit there as if they were in church.

Some theaters in Europe have guys who go up and down the aisles selling refreshments during the shows. That should illustrate at least one difference!

I need to find a motel near the Briar Street Theatre in Chicago. The Blueman group plays there. Than

The closest hotels to the theater are The WIllows on Surf St., The Days Inn Lincoln Park on Diversey, and the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace on Broadway. All are walking distance to the theater and are neighborhood-y hotels. The rooms in all of them are small but when you are in the Lakeview neighborhood you won't want to spend too much time in them anyway.

Is the new Rambo movie worth the trip to the theatre?

Stallone fan I am, but I was wondering if the new Rambo movie was worth my time and money? I just want to hear from you if you saw the new movie and I need an opinion. I don't care to hear if you think all the rambo movies are dumb or not, just THIS MOVIE if you seen it. THANKS!

Is the new Rambo movie worth the trip to the theatre?concerts

Rambo was just such an enjoyable guilty pleasure. I plan to see it one more time before it leaves the big screen. It is far more violent than any of the previous Rambo films. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that this latest installment of Rambo is so bloody that it makes Rambo I, II, and III look like PG rated movies.

The movie simply takes belligerence to a whole new level, almost to a pornographic excess, which in my mind is a good thing. Utilizing big weaponry - from Rambo wielding a wicked homemade machete, to Rambo using a mounted .50 cal machine gun, to Rambo’s mercenary associate using the Barrett M109 .50 cal sniper rifle - you see heads explode, arms sliced clean as bread, torsos cleaved in half, entrails spilling from an adversary’s abdomen, and blood spattered everywhere.

The movie’s plot is fairly simplistic, and the dramatic development is almost nonexistent compared to “First Blood”, but you go to a Rambo film not with the intention of seeing a first rate Oscar worthy drama, but instead you go into such a film to see well choreographed shootouts, and in this sense, the latest Rambo delivers in spades. It is simply one of the best action films of the past two years. I rarely find action films moving anymore, but Stallone’ latest foray as the long haired disgruntled Vietnam vet, made me hate the antagonists of the film so much, that I had to stop myself from jumping out of my seat every time Rambo or his sniper wielding friend tore a man’s body to pieces. This fourth Rambo is pure catharsis, plain and simple.

My only complaint with the film is that I believe for political correctness, they did not set the film in a Middle Eastern context, which in my mind would be more relevant to our times. According to Stallone, from interviews I have heard, he placed it in Burma to bring awareness to a bloody civil war in that country that the West has ignored for the past 60 years. Though I grant that this is possibly the reason why it is not shot in a post 9/11 context, with Islamic terrorists being the bad guys, I have an inkling that protecting people’s religious “sensitivities” has something to do with it.

Outside of that minor problem, the movie is superb. Rambo IV is a film for anyone who loves action.

I definately recommend going to watch Rambo. Look, you get EXACTLY what you pay for. Honestly, what do you expect when going to see a movie like this?

Guns ablazing... Lots of blood... More guns... More blood...

Simply put, Rambo is what it is. A pure action flick. Don't go if you care about plot because there really isn't one unless you count damsel in distress as one. Seriously though, if you like movies with action and nothing else, go check this out.
Rambo was great it was one of the great action films of the 80's but they have gotten worse sense 2 3 stunk and the latest one is just a turd....flat out a waste of time
YES YES YES on all accounts buddy. This movie is a must see I have gone twice so far. And im going again. The crowds roared cheered and even clapped at the end of this film.

This Rambo has alot more graphics guts and blood as others have said. And its the way its shot. No other action film to date comes close.

Stallone has raised the bar on future action films due to this Rambo film now.

Also it isn't just mindless talk. Its based on whats really happening over there in burma and how the poor villagers are being treated over the last 60 years.

I would definatly go buy a ticket and bring some friends. You won't be dissapointed.

RAMBO ROCKS... HAIL RAMBO!!!
if somebody pays the ticket for you....waste of time.....Rambo 1 remains the best
If you like extreme violence, gun blazing and body mutilation in movies

and I do..

then go watch it. I loved the movie
Yeah its worth watching if you like to look at at old man trying to milk every cent out of his career, or if watching an old man all hopped up on roids is your thing
Well, if you watched the first three... it certainly wouldn't hurt to view the last one. It would be worth watching...considering its the last one.

Personally, I will. More than just watching it, am also interested how the series/story would finally end.

Edit: Just came from the theater. Indeed, it was pure action....explosions, blood, guts, gore..... unmitigated by any melodramatics. If you like action blood-and-guts type, this would seem like a wetdream. The whole Rambo story came to a close....and it could not get any better ending.
Watch any movie starring Lee Marvin, and you won't have to ask a question like this.

Does anyone know a good website where I can find theatre games?classical music

I'm a big fan of using improvisational games to help teach theatre. Improv is a very integral part of theatre and is extremely useful for any working actor.

At "www.fuzzyco.com/improv/games.html", they have a database of improv game websites. I believe there are 11 websites listed there along with how many games each website has, how extensive the game descriptions are, etc. GREAT RESOURCE! (P.S.- If the screen won't let you see the whole website address, just hold the cursor over it, and a yellow box should appear with the full address.)

I want to be a proffesional actress in the westend theatre?

that is my dream and im determined to make it reality.

i've performed in a few west end shows and i've had a few big parts, i love to sing, act and dance. i feel like i was born to do it. im currently 14 years old. do you have any tips/advice to make my dream come true?

I want to be a proffesional actress in the westend theatre?performing show

First of all, congrats! It's not everyone who gets to perform on the West End.

I have three ideas. One: get an agent. Since you've done shows before, you should have already run into a few. If nothing else, some of your co-stars should be able to recommend you to their agents. Get a good headshot, work up your resume and get it to them.

Second: Work on your craft. Never ever stop taking acting lessons, you should always be honing and fine-tuning your skills. Remember, you can only get better. Find an acting coach, or a workshop.

Thirdly: Audition, audition, audition! Get out there and been seen! You won't get everything you go out for, but if you're polite and wow them with talent, they'll remember you for future projects.

what's a fire house, anyway?
I think, yes, it is. that would be like yelling bomb on an airplane, or rape at a retirement home. here is another, how about "BLOOD!" while in a hospital.
is it illegal to yell fire in a movie theatre? what if there is a fire? (hee hee)
well i don't know i don't think shouting movie in a crowd will cause panic but yeah yelling fire in a movie theater will cause panic because people want to get out sorry dude not funny check ya later ?
Not if you start a fire first. (not reccomended)
that's a funny one, but I don't think you will be allowed to go in a crowded fire house.
Now we need someone to try it and see.

More than likely no, but you'll never know until you try it.

Where can you park a car near the liverpool empire theatre at night?

Park in the St Johns multi storey and when you leave show your theatre ticket to the man in the booth and you get discount.

Where can you park a car near the liverpool empire theatre at night?say yes

There is an NCP car park in Lord Nelson Street which is the road at the side of the Empire, its much nearer. No Parking controls last all the time in Liverpool and dont end at 7-00pm like other cities. Its a terrible place to park now.

Get the train! Lime Street Station is right next door to the Empire.
Nowhere if you want the wheels to be still on when you get back lol
I always park outside the Museum which is across the road from the Empire or right next door in the multi-storey above Lime Street Station
Lime Street Station seems the best bet to me.
The carparks suggested are great but if i were you id get the train, Lime Street station is practically on top of the Empire theatre. then you can check out Liverpools nightlife.

for example, do you think that there is a difference between an american audience and a european audience and how they perceive and receive dance ?

Do you think that the different audiences that view dance theatre have an impact on how it is performed ?binoculars

No, since dance has no barrier of language, The dancer interprets the themes, emotions and ideas woven in the lyrical/musical content through the movements of the limbs of his/her body and her facial expression. Dancer's body itself becomes an instruments. In dance theaters, it adds rich musical content, choreography to bring out the essence of the theme, costumes, props, lighting and way of presentation to make it more communicative to the audience.

Audience may belong to different region, language, community; a presentation leaves more or less same impact on everybody. It is easy to have an impact on connoisseurs of theater because they have an understanding of the terminology of dance/dance theater, but it is tough to have an impression on a lay man. Success of an production can be counted only on its capability to have an impact on the layman and leave them spell bound.

There's an excellent Italian restaurant in the Theater District called Maggiano's Little Italy. You're going to see Wicked, aren't you? I am too!
Avila. It's new-ish and clean. They have small plates or full meals with a decent wine list. Its within walking distance to the theatre.
The Chris Ruth Steakhouse. It's a walking distance. Don't be fooled by the name...they have more than steak. But their food, including the steak is to die for.

Hank, I'm sure she will get a good meal for $100
Southiegirl, great suggestions. To give you a little more info, Ivy is a great nouveau/Italian place with a great tasting menu. It's unpretentious. Mantra describes itself as an Indo-European restaurant. But their food and service has more of a Continental feel rather than the Anglo influence you might expect. All that and both are around the corner from the Opera House
Mantra or Ivy Restaurant on Temple Place are good choices and are right around the corner from the Opera House. If you want a little less fancy, try Emperors Garden in Chinatown. Chinatown is right next to the Opera House so you'll have lots of less expensive choices there.
Southiegirl gives you great advice. There is also an excellent Italian place on Tremont Street in the block that abuts the Opera House but I forget its name. However you may have to have to order glasses, not a bottle, of wine at that and Southiegirl's places in order to keep under your $ 100 budget, depending on which entrees you choose.

Why K. Chick does not know Ruth Chris' is an (EXPENSIVE!!) national steak house chain I cannot imagine; anyway it is a 12-15 minute walk away.

As to Robert S' suggestions, I go down that part of Washington Street two or 3 times a week and I have never seen them. I think Robert may be an out of town Yahoo Answers junkie who looked up the Opera House address and then searched for restaurants nearby. What he does not know is that within the Boston city limits there are THREE (count 'em) Washington Streets. By the names of the places he cites I would guess they are located on the Washington Street in the Dorchester-Roxbury part of the city.

What was the flag called that shakespeare hung outside the theatre during romeo and juliet?

they were colored depending on if the play was a love story or a tragedy or a comedy etc.

What was the flag called that shakespeare hung outside the theatre during romeo and juliet?opera score

I don't know if the flag actually had a name, but I do know that the flag was there to advertise that a performance was being put on. Because theatre was looked down upon by Puritans, the Globe was not allowed to advertise with fliers and such. So the flag was their way of telling people when to come. It was taken down at the end of each performance.

A black flag meant it was a tragedy, a white one meant it was a comedy, and a red one meant it was a history play. If this helps, I've heard it simply referred to as the "playhouse flag."

Has anyone seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show live in theatre?

Damn it, Janet! That's what they're supposed to do. The movie's kind of dumb, if you really think about it. Wow - that's the whole point. I hope this was a joke question, otherwise whomever took you is really really mean.
Yep I've gone to it. What you describe is not a "recent thing" it has been around for a number of years. Try not to be so sensitive towards a film, documentaries excluded.
i was deviginized at 23 but i swore i was 18. hahaha... unfortunately for me i had three friends who were cast, so i got to go up on stage and help deliver a baby covered in orange jello while a mormon minister and a pro abortion guy fought over keep it or kill it. it was fun, everyone heckles and cheers. you're supposed to get into it. it is a scripted event in which the same theme is never repeated. try again another night and make sure you dress up. just go with the flow.
I only went once, but in line I had a giant V written on my forehead in red lipstick by some random cast member and engaged in a corn tortilla fight with other audience members prior to the start of the show. We also, as you mentioned, shouted pre-written insults at the screen and used other items which were given to us on our way in. It was awesome.
its just a recent thing....Rocky Horror Picture Show is the best thing ever made...
It has always been this way. I went in the 80's and it was the same. In fact., local theaters have stopped showing it because of the unruly crowds.
Stay away from those ridiculous shows.

Yes you can.

connect the rear speaker cables to the front speaker connections on your amp. connect the front speakers to the rear speaker connections on your amp. It will affect the surround effect as you will have the main effects coming from behind you and the surround effects coming from in front of you. If you don't have a centre speaker the dialogue will also come from behind you and just won't sound right at all. Have a go and see which sounds best to you.

If you mean can you put the fronts at the back and backs at front, I wouldn't recommend it.

The front speakers deal with dialogue as well as sound effects, the rears tend more to concentrate on background sound and sound effects. If you put the fronts to the rear, it would have the effect of watching someone speak, but hearing them from behind your back....both uncomfortable and distracting.

If you have different speakers and just want to switch them round, then yes, provided they are wired relevantly for their position
yes you can switch the position or or the cable
i guess as long as they are plugged in according to how you have arranged the speakers then nopes. if you want them say all at the front then you wont get that surround sound effect

yup I bring my oversized bag in there , stuffed with soda and chips even candy.I refuse to pay six dollars for snacks
Absolutely. Cargo Pants are the best!
oh yeah. its cheeper
No way! Sure they rip you off, but movie snacks are heart-attack-a-licious. Extra "butter" please...

Yummy.
Once before. What I snuck in was popcorn in a brown paper bag the size of theirs so in the dark it looked like theirs. Yeah the prices are a rip off. $3.00 for a half of a weiner. It was like eating c-rations. Popcorn not good at all. They need to have options. Like one kettle corn and another cheddar. The nachos......stingy portions. Oh yeah, I snuck in a 20oz. soda bottle. I was scared of the opening the cap part, especially with the cap hissing, that would give me away. But, I was cool. Basically I felt like sticking it to their butts for ripping me off on things I could get at a cheaper price. Convenient my tail. Those boxes of candies cost a $1.00 at Dollar Tree and the nerd ropes two for a dollar their too. I can buy a pack of hot dogs for a dollar and a pack of buns for a dollar. Let's not even mention the size of 7 eleven's hot dogs. And they are huge and got kick when you bite into them.

Oh yeah I learned that majority of the movie goers sneak in food on a basis. I seen people eating burgers and fried chicken. I was relieved yet appalled. Appalled because they went overboard and they were licking their fingers so loud I heard them. Large purses with alot of stuff covering the evidence is the key.

Didn't mean to write a story but I liked your question.
um no i just have a really big purse for um "fun" lol
mr pibb + red vines = crazy delicious
heck yeah I invented it !
I do.

ALL the time.
That's what big purses were made for.
yupp that's what my big winter coat is good for, carrying large bottles of soda and snacks.
All the time the movie is not as good if I don't .
All the time. Its way cheaper to buy snacks somewhere else or bring something from home.Just don't get to carried away like bringing your own liter of pop or something ridiculous like that!
Yeah...I do that all the time...the only food I ever buy there is popcorn and slurpees...
I think everyone does that. I don't always but I have before. lol.
I do it ALL the time!! Who wants to pay 5 dollars for a small popcorn or some curly fries?? come on, the ticket was already 9 dollars. Its just crazy these days. Happy New Year!!!
yes, but the concessions are overpriced because that's where theaters make all their money. Not on tickets.. which doesn't make sense because tickets are ungodly expensive.
yup! who doesnt?
Nope. I buy my snacks and soda there. I know it's expensive but I plan for it and I accept it as part of the "theater going experience".
sometimes we by the 88cent candy at wal-mart better than paying 5.00 for milk duds well see ya
No, I personally have never done this.
In the winter time I do but the summer is Cinda heard unless you have a very big purse.
yes and I have from a very young age.
I used to. But I like the popcorn there. I applied at the theater once, and they told me that the price of the snacks are what pays the employees. The ticket prices pay the actors! It's nuts.

So knowing all that, I just pay for the snacks since I know why they cost so much.
Yes, I do. My little brother always says, "Are we breaking the law?!?" I'm like Nooooooooo, we're saving moo lah.
yes! we bring a really big purse, plastic cups(for drinks and popcorn), popcorn, couple of sodas, and of course candy!
all the time
yes, i usually go to a fast food place and seek it in, then you get your dinner AND a movie!
Yes, I have two children. I wear a big heavy coat that has six pockets sewn on the inside, especially made for this purpose. You can also buy coats like this very cheap, at good will stores. You just have to keep looking.

I totally agree with the first person who said how Bose basically suck. They have this amazing marketing campaign, where they fool consumers into thinking they are selling top notch speakers. One speaker set i would recommend which is similar to the size of Bose would be Orb. (http://www.orbaudio.com/) Check out the website, they have a lot of good reviews from audio magazines. You aren't. If that is really you.
It's more like ladies at a masquerade. We are avoiding people knowing enough about us to use that information to harm us. Or we hope we are, at any rate. However, when a teenager asks a heart-breaking question, like "I'm 13 and pregnant, and scared," I have often put my email address in my answer. Technically, this is a violation of Community Guidelines, but now that I realize they can contact me by going to my Q%26amp;A page and writing a message that is passed on by Y!A without having to give out my email address, I am much more cautious. There's a lot of nuts out there, bro!

What kind of format should you use to write a theatre resum茅?

Most importantly: 1 page only. Most people won't bother reading any more than 1 page, and it's typical practice to staple your headshot to the back of the resume.

Keep the layout simple, don't use too many fonts. Name and contact info at the top, then recent work in reverse chronological order. Follow that up with any special skills, and lastly your educational background.

What kind of format should you use to write a theatre resum茅?imax theatre

I don't think there's any "right" answer to this one. What you should do is ask any working actors you know to let you look at their resumes, and see which layout(s) are most impressive to you.

The most important thing is that it should be very CLEARLY laid out. As a director, there's nothing worse than being handed a resume, and having to stare at it for 5 minutes in order to find the information I'm looking for. Don't cram it with nonsense from margin to margin. Be selective. For beginning actors, it's sometimes necessary to list EVERYTHING they've ever done. For more experienced types, this is rarely the case. Use the information that is most likely to impress your auditors.

Sounds silly, but check your local free paper, they often have fab stays in the west end, good seats, dinner, one night at posh hotel etc.

It'll usually have a section in the second half of the paper, and the prices are fair too.

I live in Southend, Essex (unfortunately!) and get the Yellow Advertiser and Southend Standard and both of those have that section, but i don't know where you live and if they'll be the same.

Best of luck finding something and hope this helped :)

There are 3 parts of the movie which is based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien. These include "The Fellowship of the Ring"; "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King". Actually there's a prequel bearing the title "The Hobbit". Tolkien has an awesome imagination because he invented the whole thing with the characters, the elven language, the places, etc..if you're into adventure and battle scenes with mystical characters, I'd suggest you watch it.

What should I consider when shopping for a good home theatre system in the $300-$400 range?

I am shopping for a good system just to watch movies with mostly. What specs are most important. What should I look for?

What should I consider when shopping for a good home theatre system in the $300-$400 range?performing show

I would advise toward getting a component system. This would be a dvd player and receiver as separate component devices and not an "All in One" device.

If you ever plan on getting a next gen DVD player such as Blu-ray you would want to have a surround sound receiver to hook this device up to.

If you buy an all in one system with a built in DVD player you will not be able to hook up your cable box to it to get HBO or Stars movies in 5.1 surround sound as most of those devices have non or limited hook-ups.

I have hooked up a Sony system for a neighbor of mine that was a 5 disc DVD player %26amp; HDMI 6.1 Receiver with speakers and powered subwoofer for that price range...maybe a little more. It worked out well because he had a Sony TV and the Sony receiver remote worked on ALL three devices without missing any functions.

What ever you buy I would make sure it has at least 1 HDMI input for future upgrade to Blu-ray, HD cable tv or HD satellite receiver.

What should I consider when shopping for a good home theatre system in the $300-$400 range?opera score opera theater

Room size because the system you buy needs to be able to fill that room with good clean sound. A surround system with separate components. A good self powered subwoofer, 250watts or more. Good luck.

Ok, just kidding. I generally don't react to events within the movie in a movie theater. It's just not my style. If I think a joke is funny, I generally don't laugh out loud. I am just more inhibited about my emotions. That being said, I can silently (and passionately) enjoy a movie. I guess my silent stare is my own way of remaining focused on the movie itself.

Wait for him to call. Or not :-(

Bet he will, though!
Wait one day. thats all. if he ask why you haven't called, say you have had time or something. If you called, you would seem eager. if he doesn't call, then you call. but dont wait too long because he might loose interest.
Or he might be thinking you'll call him if you like him. He already let you know he thinks you're amazing. These days, you call him if you want to talk to him. And so what if he is just flirting. That's how people get things started.
He should call you. If he likes you enough he will get up the nerve. just drop hints in class that you want to hang out again.
you're friends are getting this from a different perspective that YOU cant see because you are too busy focusses on what is happening!

this is BAD because you friends are going by gut instinct here because they are seeing subtle things that can only be picked up by "womans intuition"

if they reckon he is flirtatuous, be warned, but then again you need to ask yourself: are you friends just saying that because they are jealous?

or are they saying that because they are genuinly concerned that their friend might be about to get burned by a player?
let him call you....make him work for you.

My school is putting on a performance of Jesus Christ Superstar, and we need to find out how to fake a hanging for the scene (Judas' Death) in which Judas hangs himself.

Try a silhouette towards the back of the stage, somewhat oversized. Or you can do it the way a local school did it for Crucible. Face Judas towards the back of the stage with a bit of covering (grass or boulders) to hide his feet.

Well, I was in a modernistic production and (being Caiaphas) I shot Judas. It solved that problem, as the other priests then dragged him off.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I thought you might get a kick out of the different take on the show. The crowd at the trial were all reporters in trenchcoats. Herod's scene had him coming out of a strip club.
Having just played Judas last season...

You want to work up some kind of harness (call Flying by Foy for this) that will hold the weight of the actor and still give the impression that he is dangling by his neck in mid-air. This one stunt will require at least one day of rehearsals to get right with EVERYONE, from the actor to the technicians running the harness. You also want the noose to be attatched in such a way that if the harness were to fail, the noose would break away and not throttle the actor.

Email me on my 360 and I will tell you more.
Film a silhouette of it and project it onto the psyche.
Close curtains after his last lines.

Re-open curtains to reveal a dummy hanging from the rope.

Don't forget the money on the floor.

Break a leg.
It's really dangerous, even pro's have almost died during this play for the hanging scene... I wouldn't go on Answers for a solution...
I saw this done by a high school not too long ago with a very good effect. Judas climbed to the tree tied the rope and when he jumped off the tree he was off stage. A light came on and a sillhouete of the body shone on the backdrop. It was obviously a fake, with a dummy swinging on the rope, but a neat effect for a high school.

Is 300 worth spending the money to go see in the theatre?

as long as ur not taking any kids its fine. since the movie contains nudity and lots of violence.

it sounds like a good movie.
After seeing it, I'd have to say it's definitely worth seeing in the theatre. It's going to be hard to translate that to DVD even with widescreen, with all the cinematography.. I'd have loved to seen it on IMAX, as it's playing on IMAX as well but there is not an IMAX theatre near me.
Absolutely. Most people I know have seen it twice and three times already.
I have seen the trailer for it more than once and I want to see it. It looks like a real cool movie and you should see it some time.
Don't list to anyone who said it was worth seeing, it is not. Go see Zodiac or rent another film.

Few reasons why:

- Insufficiently written dialogue.

- Awful acting, that didn鈥檛 quite flatter the ineffectual dialogue. (The conspicuous British accents didn鈥檛 assist in making the film more effective either.)

- Excessive and often unneeded use of the 鈥榮low motion effect鈥?

- Over embellishment of creatures that just made the film even more deplorable.

- The poorly chosen music to follow behind the cheesy slow motion marches.

- The scrapbook of laughable erotic behavior.

- The often unneeded 鈥楴ever give up, we are one鈥?speeches.
I hear that it is great! If price is a problem, try and go to a matinee.
I don't get how anybody could say Troy is better than 300. 300 could be considered the greatest action movie ever made, and the cinemotography is breath-taking. You would be doing yourself a disservice by not seeing it in the theater.
no! its what we call around here a dollar movie. more eye candy than anything else, dont get me wrong, i spent matinee price on it. i also read the history on the battle and the comic book the movie is based on. even seen the original 300 spartans movie. doing that was alot more interesting than the 300 movie. maybe its just the kind of person i am, but i just felt it needed a little bit more depth. way too much hype. pretty movie though.
yap, great movie
I jsut saw it tonight...As far as epic war stories go, I found it lacking....that one with Brad Pitt a few years ago was much better. It was fairly entertaining, but somewhat anti-climatic.

There also was not a huge amount of attention to detail...for example, the woman playing the queen had an obvius scar on her arm from the polio vaccine she got as a child.....I don't think the Spartans were vaccinating their children!
of course, it is a cinematic masterpiece that should be given an oscar for best movie!

it is a movie that will make u cry, laugh, or shout with glee at what is happening or at least one of the above.
YES! Very good movie. Some of my friends have seen it twice. its made over 70 million in the first weekend it was open.

How do I get my TV to play through my home theatre system? I have a Motorolla cable box.?

If you have RCA out jacks, hook red and white into AUX, or TV input into your surround sound receiver. If you dont have them, I think you need an RF modulator. This converts coax cable in, to RCA output.

How do I prevent black people from talking in the movie theatre?

Frankly, I don't go anymore because of that.

How do I prevent black people from talking in the movie theatre?opera score

the same way you get white people to stop talking...tell an usher.....

How do I prevent black people from talking in the movie theatre?musicals opera theaterNOT ALL AFRICAN AMERICANS TALK IN THE THEATERS I GO TO THE MOVIES THERE ARE WHITES,AFRICAN AMERICANS ETC... TALKING YES ITS RUDE,DON'T SINGLE OUT AFRICAN AMERICANS DO WHAT THE REST OF US DO TELL THE USHER. WHATS WRONG WITH THE WORLD WE BLAME WHAT A FEW PEOPLE DO ON EVERYONE AND ITS WRONG. Report It

Okay, sinse we're being so FRANK about things tonight.

Why is it that you say " How do I prevent BLACK people from talking in the movie theatre?"

Why not say " How do i prevent PEOPLE from talking in the movie theatre?"

Anyway I can tell you what you can do the next time you go to the movies and a PERSON is talking...

You walk up to them very quietly and say " Excuse me ma'm (or sir depending on what sex the PERSON is) could you try and lower your voice, Im trying to enjoy this movie I paid to see and Im having a hard time following it because I can hear you talking"

Then say thank you and walk away!
go to a black themed movie and start talking.
Oh... I don't know. Perhaps you should tell the manager to shut them up.
People who talk in a movie really don't care about anyone else. They simply feel they are entitled to do whatever they want without any regard for the rights of others. This is the same mentality that let's smokers think they can smoke in a restaurant.

There are people from all races who are selfish and inconsiderate. Let's not point fingers at black people too much without any hard facts although I would be interested to see the results of scientific study about what race of people tend to shout at the screen during a movie. For example... during a horror movie, what race of people more often shouts "GIRL DON'T GO IN THERE!" or something as equally as silly considering it is a movie and the actors can't hear you tell them to not go in there! lol
I know how you feel , I wait till the show has been out for at least two weeks before I go. If at all possible, go during the week before 4 pm. We saw the Rocks new one "Gridiron Gang" yesterday and there were only 5 people in the theater.Good luck....
Tell them to shut up! Are you chicken? BawK!
i noe how u feel, i used to watch movie in oakland it was horrible. so stay out of dat town. go to were its more diverse.
tell them they are giving away chicken and watermelon outside the theater
it may be the local culture in that area to be boiserous to enjoy the movie Or there may be more young people there-they tend to be loud. It's probabaly an age or culture thing, not so mucha "black" thing.

Try another theatre n a different area. You may get other problems like crying babies!
don't go stay at home
whats wrong with balck ppl im not black but alot of my friends are!

r u racest?
Try just saying "please shut up",or better yet- watch your movies at home. You can do that with today's technology.
I agree with Flying High! Everyone talks! What the crap?
very rude of u to point only on the blacks... Y, dont the white people talk? If u 1 them 2 shut up... just tell them so.. please keep quite, im here 2 watch the movie.. thats simple..
Just stand up and yell,"Shut up N***er" that should do it.
My Suggestion to you would be to attend a mid-day movie. Better yet buy the movie boot leg and watch it at home. It seems to be the new trend for folks like you who have personal issues within public places that provide entertainment. Everyone who has ever been to a public theater knows that everyone and anyone who can will and do without regard to who it bothers, just like the cell phone thingy... Have you ever used one in a public place? I so sure you have, did, will and continue to do so no matter who hears the conversation..
this question is totally racist. white people talk just as much as blacks do the only difference is whites do it on their cell phone lol
ur a racists everyone talks in the ******* theatre blacks whites hispanics asians everyone stop sterotyping
The same way you prevent any other color person from talking. Really, you cannot prevent anyone from doing anything that they want to do, however, you can politely ask them to stop or bring the usher to attention of the disturbance in the theater so as to stop the talking altogether.

You're racist comment may phase others but it doesn't phase me. You're simple brain has yet to comprehend the fact that color has nothing to do with ignorance. You prove that fact clearly, everyday you open your ignorant racist mouth.

Thank you. I hope that solves your question.
Don't go to movie that black's would want to go see.
Same way you prevent white people from talking in the movie theatre. Oh -- you can't prevent white people from talking in the movie theatre either? Gosh. I guess you have a problem.
Tell you what...you cant prevent anybody from talking in movies but for the most part some people react differently to the actions and scenes...really its actually intended to be somewhat interactive but not totally ...although I do agree that urban people and younger ones do tend to voice out their comments or even scream out like if the actors are able to hear them?? Its stupid but people do it...its ignorant too from any walk of life...black,white,hispanic,green or yellow...its just plain rude!!! I like what Magic Johnson did in opening his theaters in the urban areas...he insisted that all viewers adhere to the no-talking during movie and it was clearly addressed and any violators would be escorted out...any color...etc....worked for him...cant be racists coming from a fellow black????
Are you sure that's the reason you don't go? Maybe it's the way you think that's keeping you from going
I don't think there is any thing you can do to stop them. most people just do what they want no matter how much they talk. and lots a time they have the tendency to talk luoder just because you asked them to be quite.
like lilmizzer said, you shouldnt have pointed out the fact that theyre black cause theyre people, and im pretty sure that more than just the african americans were talking.
come' on ...man....everyone talks in the movies..

Hispanics talk, blacks talk, whites talk....the only one who don't say anything are the Senior citizen...lol
Sounds like you've already solved your question.

When did you start giving KKK members BJs?
whoa!
i don't know, but I have a question Why are you ignorant?
Go to an all-white movies theatre instead and look at movies with only white people in it, and you can start eating food that is only from white farms and beef that comes only from white cowspork that comes only from white swine and do not drink milk that comes from black cows or cows with any trace of balck on their bodies.

On Black Fridays you should stay at home. Avoid all and everything that is black or contains any trace or traces of black, and when you die you may not even turn black in your grave.

AMEN!

Which is better JBL CS460 or Klipsch Quintet 3 for Home Theatre. The shop assistant said JBL now mad

I assume there is a stip for klipsch then if he is really pushing one over the other.

Listen to both and decide which one you like, there quality is both pretty good with Klipsch edging out JBL, in the lower end. Sonically I prefer Klipsch but you need to listen to them with the amp you intend to buy. Make sure to not only audition them both but at multiple locations and sittings. Only way to be sure what to get is to audition, finally in your listening area.

What should i wear for a job interview at the movie theatre?

Always dress professionally for any job interview. Suit and tie, combed hair, shoes polished.

-Be alert and act like you want the job.

-Be on time (15-20 minutes early).

-Be alert and have a positive attitude

-Do some background research on that particular theater and the industry itself.

-Ask yourself questions that you think they might ask.

-Get the book 'Dress for Success.' I don't know if it is on-line though.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I went wearing a collared long sleeved shirt and black suit pants and I got the job with Loews but never went to work the following day, got a better job. I still have their clothing (vest and pants lol). Stick to the professional attire and wear leather shoes with dress socks, clean hair cut, nice cologne, and carry a stick of gum, just in case.

i think jeans would be ok, as long as they are kind of baggy (like carpenters) and clean. just wear a nice shirt and decent shoes. i don't reccommend gym shoes. good luck!
This is a response to the guy above me:

Why the hell would you wear a suit and tie to a movie theater interview? Thats a little over the top.

And...arriving 20 minutes early is kinda extreme...5 or 10 minutes early is enough. Or just arrive on time for petes sake!
Always look professional at any job interview, despite what type of job it maybe. Example: Clean white shirt, nice tie, black pants and dress shoes. You can't never go wrong with that.
wear a polo and maybe some dress pants that are kinda tan, kind of like your school picture clothes. good luck! unless the movie theatre's picky they'll pic you =)

hope this helps
clothes
Not jeans even though its a movie theater you should look clean and presentable. A nice pair of pants kakhi in tan or black with a nice polo or button down shirt to match. Good luck

What would you say is the best female part in contemporary theatre writing for an actor to play?

And why?

if so then there are loads

Beatrice A view from the bridge Miller

Blanche A streetcar named desire Williams

Or in the last ten years there are some characters such as

Cecilia The Ark Helen Griffin

Girl characters are hard to come by, but when they occur they are usually very very strong indeed.

What would you say is the best female part in contemporary theatre writing for an actor to play?amc theatre opera theater

There is no best part to play. Acting is an ignoble profession patronised by people who can't get proper jobs and have psychological inadequacies, they crave to be the fairy on the christmas tree, LOOK AT ME LooK at me. they should deal with it and move on. Organisationally, its a big gay cartel and artistically, the theatre, TV and cinema are worthless media.
Theatrical acting is a talent and like, an art, Crispy. They entertain to, like have people enjoy a story. Any job, when it,like, comes down to it, is about "Hey, look what I can do/did!"

I love the role of Tracy in Hairspray: The Musical. But how do you, like choose to say who's the best??

Is it weird to major in Nutrition and then minor in Theatre Arts?

I know they are completely two different things, but I have a love for both of them and I just wanted to major in something that will help as a good career, but then also have fun with something that I like to do for my leisure time and maybe even make a career out of it also (acting).

How original! I think that's a great combination. The minor in Theatre Arts will help you in your career in Nutrition, as you will have group meetings, and need to make presentations in the future.

I wish you all the best.

I don't think it's wierd. If you can cope with the requirements, then good luck to you! :)
I don't think so I'm double majoring in bio-chemistry and nursing, and minoring in fine arts. i think of it as a minor is like something you want to learn even more about but not necessarily make it into your profession. hope i helped.

What kind of activities would a student do in a college Theatre Appreciation class?listen to opera

I don't know about college, but in high school I took a theatre arts class where we got to act out plays, watch theatrical productions and learn how to do stage makeup. That was fun.

What kind of activities would a student do in a college Theatre Appreciation class?concert venue opera theater

Stare out the window, doodle, nap, drool.
i took a class like that, get out now. you have to watch, rate, %26amp; research educational movies from your library. so boring
I read plays, saw plays, then critiqued them.
In the class I took we had to read plays and discuss movements, themes, motifs, etc. We also had to watch a live performance to see how the atmosphere of the theater--lighting, costume, etc--influenced our view of the play. We had to take notes in a theater appreciation book and then write a report on the play based on different elements of the performance. We also had to split into different groups and write and perform a play based on the different things we studied as a final exam, but that was kind of a spur of the moment decision by the teacher.
Watch plays. Discuss.
Basically, we were introduced to the fantastic world that is theatre. We studied the history of theatre and how it evolved throughout the centuries. We received extra credit when we saw live plays and critiqued them (or performed in them!). We were split into groups as well, and given a specific chapter of the book which had a specific theme. As a group we then taught the class about our subject. It was really a wonderful learning environment. Nothing too heavy or boring honestly. I actually became a theatre major after this course.
